Obituary

Wendy Kay Miller (nee' Raftenberg), beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, passed away on November 14, 2024, at the age of 78. Adored daughter of the late Marcy and Mike Raftenberg, Wendy was the cherished high school sweetheart and devoted wife of Glen Miller for 57 years. She was a dedicated and loving mother to Lauren (Jamie) Izaks, Matthew (Beth) Miller, and David (Sonya) Miller, and a proud Granny to Max and Abby Izaks, Allison and Olivia Miller, and Claudia and Vivian Miller. Wendy was the beloved sister of Paula (the late Michael) Avchen, a cherished aunt to Rebecca Avchen, Julie (Andi) Avchen, and a great-aunt to Mari, Rachel, and many others.

Wendy was known for her kindness and unwavering loyalty, which made her a cherished friend and confidante to many. She was dedicated to her community, serving as a docent at the Illinois Holocaust Museum and strongly supporting the Alzheimer's Association and Northwestern's Buddy Program. Her philanthropic spirit touched countless lives, embodying her lifelong commitment to compassion and giving back.

Wendy's warmth, kindness, and unwavering commitment to her family, friends, and community defined her life. Her legacy is a testament to the power of compassion, family bonds, and friendship, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Memorial donations may be made in honor of Wendy Miller to support the Buddy Program to the Miller Alzheimer's Family Support Program Fund, c/o Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, 420 E. Chapel services will be held Sunday, November 17, 2024; 10 AM at Shalom Memorial's chapel and graveside, 1700 West Rand Road, Arlington Heights.
