Sidney J. Wallach, 102, beloved husband of the late Barbara Louise Wallach, née Neumann, happily married for 51 years; loving father of Michael (the late Sigrid) Wallach, Robyn (Jeffrey) Carlson, Harlan (Rachel) Wallach, and Wendy Ottosen; cherished Papa of Katie (Joel Siegel) Carlson, Roy (Roxanne Pinpena) Carlson, Leah Wallach, Jonah Wallach, Brian (Stephanie) Ottosen, Erik (Halee) Ottosen, and Kristy (Zach) Emling; proud great-grandfather of Easton, Harper, Sydney, Brooklyn, Rylie, and Aiden; preceded in death by his siblings Edith (Howard) Grossman, Ben (Gloria) Wallach, John (Gladys) Wallach, Lillian Sklar, Sam Wallach, and Babe (Will) Heller; dear brother-in-law to Jack Sklar and Phyllis Wallach; treasured uncle and great-uncle of many nieces and nephews. First Generation American, Child of the Great Depression, Brooklyn Pigeon Wars Combatant, World War II Veteran, Bowler of a Perfect 300 Game, Business Owner (Wallach and Wayne), Avid Fisherman (feared by bluegills and bass), Lifelong Cubs fan, Salesman Extraordinaire, Great Investor, Mediocre Gambler, Rummikub Master, World Traveler, Collector of Stamps, Coins, and Beanie Babies, Belter of Broadway Tunes, and Teller of Tales-most of them true. Chapel service Thurs, June 20, 2:30 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment following at Shalom Memorial Park.
