Obituary

Sid Doppelt, “Mr. Dependable,” 93, beloved husband of the late Sonia for 66 years. Loving father of Debra Karplus, Richard (Jill) Doppelt, Lori (Stephen) Winikoff and Steven Doppelt. Proud grandfather of Eli (Andrea) and Sari (Lindsey); Jaclyn (Ben), Jennifer (Alex), Jason and Justin (Lucy); Mitchell and Natalie. Adoring great-grandfather of 10. Dear brother of the late Paul Doppelt (Arlene) and Judy (Abel) Friedman. He will be dearly missed by many extended family and friends whose lives he touched. Trained as a mechanical engineer, Sid ran the Fred Doppelt Co. scrap metal business for decades after taking over for his father. He achieved Gold Life Master status in duplicate bridge and was named to the Wilmette Baseball Association Hall of Fame for his many dedicated years as a little league coach. He loved gardening, fishing and music, and he sang and harmonized many a song. He died peacefully surrounded by love. A private family service will be held on Wednesday, at 1:30pm CT.
