Shirley Jean Rustin nee Siegel, 96.
Beloved wife of the late E. Paul Rustin, Loving mother of Marcia (the late Dr. Jerome) Kraut and Barry Rustin and his loving partner Dr. Lynne Belsky. Proud grandmother of Sandy (Evan) Fleischer, David (Rachel) Kraut, Brett Rustin, and Allison Rustin and very proud great-grandmother of Isaac and Charlie Fleischer, Natalie and Alex Kraut. Dear twin sister of the late Jack M. (Jeanne) Siegel. Shirley grew up in the South Side of Chicago. Graduated Hyde Park High School, where she made lifelong friends. Graduated the Chicago Academy of Art in Dress Design. Met the love of her life, Paul, at a USO dance. She married Paul and soon after started a family. She was passionate about her family and friends. She loved to create weekly “Granny days” for her four grandchildren. The family expresses gratitude to the compassionate staff at the Friend Center of CJE. Service Wednesday 2PM at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 8851 Skokie Blvd., (at Niles Center Road) Skokie. Interment Shalom. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Council for Jewish Elderly, 3003 W. Touhy Avenue, Chicago, IL 60645, www.CJE.net.
