Obituary

Sherwin Chapman, age 94, was born and raised on the West Side of Chicago and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1947. Served honorably as a Sergeant in U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, where he was stationed at Fort Greely, near Big Delta, Alaska; beloved husband for 68 years of Gertrude Chapman, nee Weber; loving father of Lynn Chapman, Larry (Janet) Chapman, and Donald (Lori) Chapman; adored Zayde of Eric (Danielle), Ryan, Kevin, Benjamin, Tyler and Lara: proud great grandfather of Noa; devoted son of the late George and the late Pearl Chapman; dear brother of the late Philip Chapman. Sherwin was greatly loved by his family, his extended family, his colleagues, and the many friends he and Gertrude cultivated over the years through the Manor, Temple Chai and at Cambridge on the Lake, where he served on the Board for over 10 years. Sherwin worked at Gateway Transportation for 40 years as a rate clerk and served as a Union Steward. He had a love of learning and was a voracious reader which he passed down to his family. Service Monday, 1:00 p.m. CT at The Chapel, 195 N. Buffalo Grove Rd., Buffalo Grove (1 Blk N. of Lake Cook Rd.). The service will be livestreamed on Sherwin’s webpage at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com.
