Obituary

Sheila Lois Nabat Dubow (née Cowan), 86, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, surrounded by her 3 loving children. Beloved wife of the late Alan Nabat for 23 years and the late Donald Dubow for 23 years; loving mother of Cheri Shuman, Barry Nabat, and Michael (Denise) Nabat; adored "Grandma" of Simone (Chaim) Lazarus, Moshe Nachman "Garrett" (Avigayil) Shuman, Aaron Nabat, Jared Nabat, Jake (fiancée Nicole Goldwater) Nabat, Jordan Nabat, and Jessica (fiancé Samuel Polisner) Nabat; cherished great-grandmother of Rivka Lazarus; much-loved sister of the late Aloma Baraz; treasured aunt, great-aunt, and friend to many. Sheila was a true lady and a perfectionist. Everything had its place. She was a devoted mother who would do anything for her children and family. She shared her love by spending time with her family. Fridays were spent at the beauty shop, Saturdays were dinner with friends and date night, and Sundays were always family day. Although Sheila considered herself a homebody, she enjoyed traveling going to Mexico, going on cruises, playing Canasta and Mah Jongg, but her greatest joy was being a grandmother. She will be dearly missed. Memorial donations in her name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org. Chapel service, Tuesday, May 12, 2026; 12:15 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment to follow at Shalom Memorial Park.
