In Loving Memory of

Seymour Baskin

Obituary

Seymour "Sy" Baskin, passed away in peace on August 5, 2021 at his home in Miami, FL at the age of 100. Loving father of Bonnie and Marc, grandchildren Eric, Adam, Alison and David, and great grandchildren Asher, Remi, Henry and Emma. Cherished uncle, cousin, and dear friend to many.

Sy lived life to the fullest in every way imaginable. A successful entrepreneur in the chemical manufacturing industry, he was never afraid to try his hand at other opportunities that intrigued him. From citrus groves to thoroughbred racing and breeding, he threw himself into a wide variety of ventures with passion and enthusiasm.

An avid fisherman, he searched far and wide for the best fishing spots on the planet. Whether it was bonefishing on Christmas Island in the South Pacific, fly fishing in Colorado, or day trips with his grandchildren off the coast of Key Biscayne, he felt at home on the water.

Later in life he was a dedicated horticulturist, fighting against all odds to grow exotic fruit trees from the terrace of his 26th floor apartment. He loved nothing more than to lead guided tours of his fruit trees for friends and family, identifying every single specimen.

But his greatest success was a 67 year love affair with his beloved wife, Beverly. The two traveled the world hand in hand, exploring nearly every corner of the globe. From the Amazon to Zimbabwe, their shared love of travel and adventure produced more than a lifetime of memories. And more than a few slideshows.

No one will ever wear a moustache the way he did, make homemade salads with as much care and dedication, or look as relaxed watching a football game in his La-Z-Boy.

In life and in death, he is an inspiration to all who knew him. We will love and miss him forever.

The family is grateful beyond words to his devoted caregiver and companion, Chris Cuyos, who provided loving care to the end. Thank you also to the team of caregivers and the amazing hospice staff.
