Obituary
Russell Allan Astor, 50, passed away suddenly on March 28, 2021. He married the love of his life, Jenny Doyle, in April 2012 and was a devoted husband to her and loving dog-dad to their rescue pup Max. He was the cherished son of Gloria Jean Astor and Michael Astor, both deceased. Russ leaves behind his sister, Stephanie, his favorite niece Madeline and brother-in-law, John Owens. He was adored by his in-laws Jill and the late Ed Doyle. He was born in Skokie, IL on March 5, 1971. Russ attended Niles North High School in Skokie. He spent over 20 years as a theater manager for noted chains like Loews, AMC and the Davis Theatre in Chicago’s Lincoln Square neighborhood. As a long-time concessions purchasing manager for Levy Restaurants, Russell Astor was a well-known fixture at Chicago-area sports venues like Wrigley, Guaranteed Rate Field, United Center and his most recent property, Now Arena in Hoffman Estates. He was universally loved and respected by his colleagues. “Whoever Russell worked with became family,” said his sister, Stephanie. “He established amazing work and friendships with anyone he encountered. He was loved by all.” He was a voracious sports fan; especially the Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks and professional wrestling. He was a Metallica super-fan and saw them live dozens of times. To keep everyone safe and healthy, the chapel service and internment are private. His funeral will be available to watch via livestream.
