Obituary

Rita Mae Block, nee Kagan, age 94, of Northbrook, beloved wife and best friend for 74 years of Alvin Block; loving mother of Sheryle (late Marshall) Trayber, Merle (Robert Troop) Block Troop, and Bernie (Timmie) Block; adored Grandma of Rebecca Rose Trayber, Ilanna Trayber, Sara (Ryan Bertram) Block, Simone (Alex) Fine, Jessica (Brian Rosenbaum) Block, Joseph (Kirsten) Troop, and Jake Block; proud Mae Mae of Mason, Liam, Lilah and Cooper; devoted daughter of the late Joseph and the late Dorothy Kagan; cherished sister of Sheila (late Izzy Kellerman and late Bernard Plotzker) Plotzker and the late Sheldon (Shelly) Kagan. Rita was the heart of our family and a true matriarch. Family was the light of her life. Rita’s legacy is not just in the family she created, but in the strength and devotion she poured into each of us. We will miss her deeply and love her always. Service Wednesday, February 25th, 1:00 p.m. CT at The Chapel, 8851 Skokie Blvd, Skokie (at Niles Center Rd). Rita’s service will be livestreamed on her website at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com. Interment Westlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated to the American Friends of Magen David Adom, www.afmda.org or the Jewish United Fund, www.juf.org.
