Obituary

Renée Paula Field (nee' Tobias), Age 88, passed away on April 26th, 2025. Beloved wife and best friend of Burton J. Field for 64 wonderful years; loving mother of Gail (Dr. Bruce) Smoler, Jim (Shari) Field and Steven (Susan) Field; cherished Grandmother of Sara Smoler, Zachary Smoler (fiancée Julianne Goodman), Rebecca, Steffi, Sydney, Samantha and Scott Field; much loved sister of Anita (the late Donald) Silvertrust and the late Melvin (Trisha) Tobias; dear Aunt, great Aunt and loving lifelong friend of many.

Renée was one of the most selfless people, always concerned about the wellbeing of others despite her own challenges. She was always thoughtful, sweet, kind, affectionate and compassionate. Renée attended The University of Michigan and then went on to graduate from the National Teachers College. She was a dedicated elementary school teacher for several years, and then became a devoted mother. After raising her family, Renée was honored with the title of Grandma. Her greatest joy in life was her family.

She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling the world with her husband Burt and their friends, visiting art museums, shopping, and going to the theatre. She especially loved keeping up with all of her children and grandchildren's lives. She never missed a beat and was a trusted source of comfort, kindness, and compassion by all who knew her.

She will be dearly missed by all. Memorial donations may be made to support the Parkinson's Disease Research Fund at Rush University Medical Center.
