Obituary

Olivia Dan Smoller, age 82, of Chicago and formerly of Arlington Heights, IL passed away on March 7, 2026. She will be deeply missed by her devoted daughter and steadfast advocate, Jodi Harris, her son, Ken (Jaime) Smoller, the joys of her life, her grandchildren: Jenna, Jared, Simon, and Charlie and her dedicated and loving nurse of countless years, Kathleen Smith. Olivia was preceded in death by her siblings: Bob (late Millie) Dan, Merwyn (late Dolly) Dan, Lois Dan, and Gary (Sharon) Dan. Olivia was proud to have many nieces and nephews.

Olivia was born in Joliet, IL in 1943 to Jeanne and Milton Dan and grew up in Peoria, IL. Olivia graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1974. Olivia worked as a substitute teacher and spent many years as a Real Estate Broker in the northwest suburbs before proudly receiving her JD from The John Marshall Law School in 1997. The highlight for Olivia was receiving her degree directly from her daughter, an adjunct professor at the time.

Olivia was a dogged and tenacious person. She always looked at a door and pushed through it. She was the ultimate survivor. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the American Heart Association in Olivia’s memory. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Westlawn Cemetery, 7801 West Montrose Avenue, Norridge, IL. In lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org. The Goldman Funeral Group, www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com (847) 478-1600.
