Obituary

Martin “Marty” H. Fishman, age 93, of Lincolnwood, beloved husband of Geraldine “Gerry” Fishman and the late Harriet Fishman; loving father of Jay (Karyn), Linda, and Howard Fishman; adored grandfather of Michael (Ali) and Daniel (Katie) Fishman; proud great grandfather of Taylor, Lucas, Harris, and Andie Fishman; devoted son of the late Meyer and the late Ida Fishman. Marty was the stepfather and stepgrandfather of Gerry’s daughter Liv Sanders Grossman and granddaughter Rosabelle “Rosie” Grossman. Marty was a kind and generous person that cared more about others than he did himself and never expected anything in return. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life such as being with his family, going on fishing trips with his pals, and reminiscing about the great “Vest” side. As a leader in the hospitality industry, he developed the 67th Holiday Inn in the world, the 1st Holiday Inn in the state of Minnesota, and the first Doubletree Hotel in the state of Arkansas. He also mentored many successful real estate and hospitality executives over the course of his career. Graveside service Sunday, 11:00 a.m. CT at Memorial Park Cemetery, section Makom Shalom, 9900 Gross Point Rd., Skokie. The service will be livestreamed on Marty’s webpage at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com. In lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated to Dancing While Cancering, www.dancingwhilecancering.org.
