Obituary

Marianne Katz Perper, age 69, passed away on December 15, 2024, after a long illness.  Born April 13, 1955, in Chicago to the late Dr. Bernard Katz and late Lucile Katz. Marianne received a Rotary International Scholarship at age sixteen, enabling her to live and study in France, first at the Lycée de Cornouaille, Quimper, and later at the Université Occidentale de Brest. Marianne graduated from DePaul University College of Law and practiced law for 23 years before leaving practice in 1999 to raise her family.  In 1983-84, Marianne set a Cook County record for the most jury cases tried to verdict in a twelve-month period by a female attorney, according to the Cook County Jury Verdict Reporter. Marianne served on the board of directors of the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois and the University of Chicago Women's Board, and led an international member exchange for Rotary One, the Rotary Club of Chicago.  She is survived by her husband, Marc Perper, their two daughters, Laurel (fiance Nick Gallagher) Perper and Stephanie Perper, her brother, Dr. Richard (Martha Lessman) Katz, and her sister-in-law, Monica Bauman. Service Thursday, 1:00 p.m. at Anshe Emet Synagogue, 3751 N. Broadway, Chicago. The service will be livestreamed at Marianne’s webpage at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com. Interment Memorial Park.
