Obituary

Mabel Sassoon Moses, almost 92. Wife of the late Benzion Moses; devoted mother of Myra (Robert) Wilkins and the late Isaac Moses (Dipa Valambhia); proud grandmother of Jevan Wilkins; predeceased by 8 loving brothers and sisters; treasured daughter of the late Erusha "Ba" Benjamin Ashtamker; will be deeply missed by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mabel lived in Chicagoland for decades, raising her family in the Rogers Park neighborhood, before moving to Northern California and residing there for 38 years. She cherished her educational accomplishments, applying her Bachelor's and Master's from the University of Chicago to help people. She was a dedicated social worker for the justice system, and in her retirement she channeled her passion into supporting children, striving to break the cycle of hardship and create bright futures. Mabel will be deeply missed for her warm smile, infectious laughter, and countless lives she touched. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, www.diabetes.org, or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, www.komen.org. Chapel service Wednesday, January 22, 12:15 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Rd, Arlington Heights. Interment to follow at Shalom Memorial Park.
