Obituary

Lucille (née Guysenir) Gilbert, 91, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026. Loving mother of Renee Gilbert (Paul Bayliss) and Aliza Gilbert (Martin Coonen); cherished grandmother of Thomas Bayliss; adored daughter of the late Isadore and Sarah Guysenir; much-loved sister of the late Lawrence (the late Mildred) Guysenir and the late Dr. Maurice (the late Jewel) Guysenir; treasured aunt, great-aunt, cousin, and friend to many. Lucille grew up in Albany Park and attended Senn High School, where she formed many lifelong friendships that she cherished throughout her life. She was proud of her Jewish heritage, had a passion for Yiddish, and was an active member of Am Yisrael Conservative Congregation in Northfield. She was also a founding member of her B'nai B'rith chapter and a dedicated member of Hadassah. Lucille loved bringing family and friends together, especially hosting during the High Holidays. She also had a love of music and the arts. She greatly enjoyed her home in Northfield, where she spent time birdwatching and observing the deer that surrounded her condo in the beauty of nature. Her family was her greatest joy, especially her beloved grandson, Thomas. She will be dearly missed. Memorial donations in Lucille's name may be made to the Jewish Institute for the Blind (www.jewishblind.org). A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 12:30 PM at Menorah Gardens Cemetery, 2630 S. 17th Avenue, Broadview, Illinois.
