Obituary
Lowell J. Martin, 91, June 30, 2023; beloved husband, best friend and soul mate to Bobbie (nee' Rubin) for 68 wonderful years; loving father of Mike, Greg and Steve; cherished Papa of Brent (Kristina), Jessica, Jordan (Blythe), Brian, Jamie, and Justin, and much loved great grandpa of Sienna, Shay, Crew, Beckham, and Halle; loved son of the late Phil and Sarah; dear brother of Marcia (the late Ron) Pinski, Arnie (Sharon) Martin; beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews. Lowell grew up in West Rogers Park, attended Senn High School, then went on to graduate from the University of Illinois. He was in ROTC in college and became a Second Lieutenant in the Army and later promoted to First Lieutenant. At 23, he met the love of his life, and it was love at first sight. They married and were sent to Germany for the last year of his Army career. Upon returning home, he worked for his father in the jewelry business, Martin Jewelers, but decided that was not his forte. He decided to go into the real estate business and was a natural because he had such a nice way with people. He opened Martin and Markon Realtors Inc. on Touhy Avenue in Chicago in 1961 then moved on to become Martin and Marbry Realtors in 1964. He had offices in Skokie, Des Plaines, Buffalo Grove, Wheeling, Vernon Hills, Morton Grove, and Northbrook. His employees respected and loved him. He became President of the North Side Real Estate Board in 1970 and also served as Trustee of Golf Mill State Bank in the 1990's. In 1971, Lowell and Bobbie bought a home in Northbrook in La Salceda and lived there for over 50 years. There he served as President of the La Salceda Homeowners Association. In 1991, Lowell and Bobbie bought a home in Scottsdale, Arizona where they spent 32 years of bliss having their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren come to visit. Lowell was also blessed with many lifelong, wonderful friends. He was a devoted Chicago Cubs fan, an avid golfer, fisherman, and a true family man. Thank you to the greatest caregivers in the world, the Luna family, especially Clem Luna, who cried tears of love because he lost a great friend. Lowell is already dearly missed.
