Obituary
Loren Donald Cohen, 90 passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon March 5th 2023, at Northwest Community hospital, Arlington Heights, IL surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with dementia, beloved husband, best friend and soul mate of Eleanor Cohen, married 53 years ; devoted and loving father to Jeff Jacobs, and the late RobertJacobs and daughter-in law Mary Ellen Wilson and husband Rob Wilson; adoring grandfather to Matthew Jacobs and Danielle Jacobs. Loren was born August 26th 1932, in Brooklyn, N.Y. He graduated from Yeshiva High School and joined the Army during the Korean War where he enlisted in officers candidate school. Upon returning from the war Loren began his career in the family business specializing in making custom furniture. After the business closed in the late 60s, Loren began his career as a salesman for Motorola, Inc. where thru his tremendous people skills and ability, quickly rose thru the ranks and in 1979 was promoted to National Vice President of Sales for Motorola's then thriving paging division and relocated to the corporate offices in Schaumburg, IL. He retired from Motorola in 1996 and enjoyed his retirement doing the things he loved most including spending time with family, reading, traveling, doing volunteer work for the Salvation Army and teaching under privileged school children to read. Loren was loved by all those he touched. Whether it was the people who worked for him, family or friends, he was admired for his brilliant intellect, patience and ability to listen. He possessed an inherent ability to always strike the right tone and offer sage advice when asked. He had a natural ability to make you feel special. He was a very special man who will be sorely missed and live in our hearts forever. Chapel service 12:15 PM Thursday at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights.
