Obituary

Leona Zelener, nee Shulman, age 90, of Northbrook, formerly of Highland Park; devoted partner of Dr. Irving Savin; loving mother of Howard (Sue Irish-Zelener) Zelener, Barry (Donna Piekarczyk) Zelener, and Marla (David) Berger; adored grandma of Alix, Stefanie and Andi Zelener, Elizabeth Berger and the late Samuel Berger; cherished daughter of the late Abe and the late Ida Shulman. Leona enjoyed theatre and world travel. When she was not relishing long lunches with friends, sharing tales of her latest adventures, she was clipping coupons and recipes and baking her banana cake. Graveside service Thursday, 11:00 a.m. CT at Jewish Oakridge Cemetery, 4301 Roosevelt Rd., Hillside. Leona’s service will be livestreamed on her webpage at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com.
