Obituary

Leonard Ackerman, 68, passed away suddenly on October 8th. Lenny is survived by his wife Sheryl, brother Michael (Denise), niece Mandy , nephew Drew and brother in law Max. Lenny was the son of the late Herschel and Faige Ackerman, who were both Holocaust survivors. Lenny idolized his parents and was proud of his Jewish heritage. Covering sports for internet streaming services, Leonard was a fixture at Chicago area sporting events for the last several decades where he was well known to the press and athletes alike. Lenny marched to the beat of a different drummer. One of his utmost pleasures came when he was interacting with his beloved Dachshund, Honey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tony La Russa's Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) www.arflife.org. Graveside service Wednesday, October 12th at 12:00 PM at Shalom Memorial Park, 1700 W.
