Larry Kane

Obituary

Larry Richard Kane, age 83, passed away April 4th from complications associated with a heart procedure.  Larry was an outstanding grandfather, father and husband. To know him was to love him, as demonstrated by the vast group of treasured friends in his life.

Larry was recognized as one of the foremost family lawyers of his time. He was a founding member of the law firm Davis, Friedman, Zavett, Kane & MacRae; former President of the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial lawyers; Chair of the Chicago Bar Association’s Matrimonial Law Committee; member of the Illinois State Bar Association’s Family Law Section; Chair of the Judicial Management Sub-Committee of the Cook County Circuit Court Domestic Relations Management Advisory Committee and principal author of the maintenance sections of the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act (1993).

He was an alumnus of DePaul University College of Law (1965), University of Illinois (1962) and Sullivan High School (1958). He was also president of the Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity while at U of I.

Beloved husband for 55 years of the late Maxine “Macky” Kane, nee Klemptner; proud father of Susan Kane, Gregory (Elizabeth Toohey) Kane and the late Melissa (Tim Hyde) Kane Hyde; devoted grandfather of Isabelle and Abigail Hyde, Adeline and Lucy Walkush and Daniel, Nathan, and Sarah Kane; late in life dear companion of Marjorie Dubrow.

Memorial Service to be held Thursday, April 11th, 11a.m. CT at B’nai Jehoshua Beth Elohim Temple (BJBE), 1201 Lake Cook Rd in Deerfield. The service will be livestreamed on Larry’s webpage at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com. In lieu of flowers, please take a friend to lunch. Larry would love that.
