Obituary

Kathy was born in Cheverly, Maryland, October 24, 1949, and died August 14, 2024 in Columbus, Ohio of lung cancer. She is preceded in death by Father Omar D Morgan and Mother Neva L Morgan. She is survived by Ira, her Husband of 51 years, whom she married in 1972, Sister Linda Porter, Brother-in-Law Alan Weiss (Bonnie), Sister-in-Law Hillary Peck (Kerry), nephews David Weiss (Akino), Dan Weiss and Brandon Peck (Marci), nieces Haley Pivnick (David), Kathlynn Witten and many great nieces, nephews and cousins. Kathy graduated from Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, MD, studied at the Royal Ballet School, received a Bachelor of Music Degree from Indiana University and an Associates Degree from Columbus State Community College. She danced professionally with Dancentral in Columbus, Ohio. Kathy worked at the Ohio Arts Council, Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation, for Dale Millar, Veterinarian, and held several positions at Columbus State Community College, from which she retired in 2006. Kathy was an avid cyclist and life-long animal lover, training her dogs at Columbus All-Breed Training Club. She was very athletic, excelling at yoga, running and aerobics. Kathy loved gardening and was very proud of the pollinator garden she created in her backyard. She will also be remembered for her love of the arts. Chapel service, Tuesday 10 AM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. A memorial will be held in Columbus at a future date.
