Obituary

Jules Galanter, 93, of Northbrook, loving husband of 71 years of the late Phyllis Galanter, son of Henry Galanter and Dorothy Winsberg Galanter, cherished father of Mickie (David) Applebaum, Joan (Matt) Lewin and Bill (Noreen) Galanter. Cherished Papa of Danny (Katie Martin-Browne) Lewin, Amy (Trent Fredrickson) Lewin, Jenny Lewin, Andy (Sophia) Applebaum, Alyssa (Danny Benedict) Applebaum, Betsy Applebaum, Nina and Allison Galanter and Kayla Mandel. Treasured great-grandfather of Gabriel Lewin. After graduating from Crane Tech on the West Side, Jules met Phyllis at U of I - Navy Pier, married in 1949 and raised their family in Morton Grove. Jules was a top-ranked new car salesman and manager for Jim Moran "Your Courtesy Man" for more than a decade. He then spent 25 years working for the Illinois Housing Development Authority where he was manager of asset management services. He was also a National Faculty Member of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and was President of the Chicago chapter. He was a sought-after conference speaker as well as a contributor to several books on real estate management. Jules was left bereft by Phyllis' passing in late April. The perennial gentleman, he made friends wherever he went; in the final hours before his peaceful passing, his nurse asked "Do you have any pain?" he responded "no, but I know where I could get some cheap"! Jules will be remembered for his integrity, his delight in family, and his sense of humor. The interment was private but can be viewed at www.shalom2.com.
