Obituary

Joyce Root, Age 91, passed away on January 21, 2025. Beloved wife of Herbert for almost 64 years; loving mother of Judy (Barry) Mendelsberg, Gail Root (Chris Anderson) and Ellen (Michael) Saichek; cherished grandma of Liora, Cara (Alex), Justin (Meagan), Rebecca, Lea, and Sydney; loving great grandma of Isabel and Ryan; best friend and sister of Elaine Stein (the late Raymond), and sister of the late Sheldon (Beverly) Berson and the late Sanford (Sharon) Berson; dear aunt and friend to many. She was a lifetime member of Hadassah and an active member of Northwest Suburban Jewish Congregation Sisterhood for many years. Memorial donations in her honor may be made to Hadassah, www.hadassah.org/region/chicago-north-shore . Interment Shalom Memorial Park.
