Obituary

Joel S. Katz, 86. Beloved husband for 37 years to Harriet, nee Marx; devoted father of Jamie Katz (Rue Turner) and Rick Katz; caring stepfather of Mark (Caron) Glickman, Larry (Lynn) Glickman, and Jim Glickman (Marcie Kleinman); proud grandfather of Jacob Glickman, Eliana (Michael) Morris, Shoshana Glickman, Sydney Katz, Jessica Glickman, Sophie Glickman (Adam Jones), Adam Glickman, Mia Katz, and Sammi Katz; loving brother of Susan (Bob) Buckwald, Nancy (the late Gary) Luck, Zvi (Linda) Berger, and the late Amy (Maurice) Cohen; fond former spouse of Lori Chase and former father-in-law of Cindy Katz; treasured uncle, cousin, and friend of many. Joel was a valued civil engineer with the Minnesota Department of Transportation for over 45 years. He was a cellist extraordinaire and loved music. He was a gentle soul - never said a bad word about anyone. Joel will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Interlochen Center for the Arts, www.interlochen.org/giving-to-interlochen, or the Essential Tremor Foundation, www.essentialtremor.org. Chapel service Friday, April 3, 12:15 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights, IL. Interment to follow at Shalom Memorial Park.
