Obituary

Joel Ira Cohen, age 88, of Highland Park, Illinois; devoted husband for 65 years of Norma (nee Shell); beloved father of Sheryl (Joel) Solomon and Dr. Larry (Renee Davidson) Cohen; cherished grandfather of Robert (Dr. Dasha) Solomon and Jesse Solomon; proud great grandfather of Ari and Jack Solomon; dear son of the late Jack and Sylvia Cohen; adored brother of Ronald, Doris, Merle, and the late Leslie Cohen and brother in law of Gloria (late William) Goldberg. Joel was the former owner and president of Staffing Consultants, the largest privately held staffing firm in Chicagoland with 7 offices. He was the past president and active volunteer in GIRF, the gastrointestinal research foundation at the University of Chicago. Joel relished playing golf at Addison Reserve in Delray Beach, FL and joking with his friends, and loved being with his wonderful family. Service Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. CT at North Shore Congregation Israel, 1185 Sheridan Road, Glencoe, IL 60022. The service will be livestreamed on Joel’s webpage at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com. Interment Westlawn Cemetery, Norridge. Donations can be made in Joel’s memory to North Shore Congregation Israel, www.nsci.org or ORT America, www.ortamerica.org.
