Obituary
A much-loved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Joan Doris Glenn Culshaw Richman, 82, of New Rochelle, New York, passed away peacefully at her home March 15, 2026 with her family present. She had a quick and pain-free battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Joan was born May 31, 1943 in New York City and resided in New Rochelle NY for the past 5 years. She previously lived in Riverdale NY (40 years) and the Bronx NY as a child and young adult. Joan was an art teacher and special education teacher (Masters degree) for over 30 years in the Bronx, NY.
Joan is survived by her husband of 40 years, Harris (Hal) Richman, son Darren Culshaw and wife Marisol Culshaw, daughter Laura McGirr and husband John McGirr; grandchildren Justin, Kimberly, Aaron, Carly and Lindsay; brother Gary Glenn and wife Virginia Glenn.
Joan was buried at Mount Moriah Cemetery in Fairfield NJ on March 18, 2026 surrounded by family and friends.
Joan will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, and by her passions and memories; an artist, a teacher, a strong, smart warrior that raised 2 children in NY city as a divorced woman, Grandma that does projects, cheerleader for every theater, dance performance, and graduation, a chocolate lover, cosmo and chocolate martini lover, family traveler, cake decorator, and jewelry maker.
Joan’s family was the most important thing to her. Relationships with friends turned into close relationships which became extended family. Her artwork spread among family and friends shows her love of flowers, and her many photographs capture moments with those she loves. She will be missed greatly.
