Obituary

Janis Sue “Jan” Rubin, nee Kaufman, age 76, passed suddenly on May 30th. She was the loving mother of Josh (Tiffany) Rubin and Brett (partner Marissa Rubin) Rubin; beloved Nonnie of Luke and Wesley Rubin and is also survived by Marissa’s daughter Eden Smith; devoted daughter of the late Myron “Mike” and the late Florence “Flo” Kaufman; treasured aunt of Brian Weiner and Marnie (Steve) Cunha and their two children Kendall and Tyler; cherished cousin, aunt, niece to the whole California crew; and dear and irreplaceable friend to many. Jan’s giving nature and love for her friends and family were limitless. She was always ready to offer anyone advice or counsel, share stories about her grandkids, and was generous to a fault. Jan was a free spirit who loved the arts, food, music, and people. She was a strong, proud, and spiritual person who cared deeply about people and animals, especially her late dog Bailey. Her love, her counsel, her cooking, and her light will be missed.

A celebration of her life is being planned for later this summer. Details will be forthcoming with the specific day, time and place. In lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated to Planned Parenthood, www.plannedparenthood.org or to the charity of your choice. Jan was a giver and wanted to help anyone who needed it.
