Obituary

Janet S. Kanter, 83, née Shagam, beloved wife of the late Richard Kanter, happily married for 45 years; loving mother of David (Rebecca) Kanter and Rachel (Eric) Hoglund; cherished grandmother of Daniel, Noah, and Audrey Kanter and Liam and Nathan Hoglund; devoted daughter of the late Robert and late Helen Shagam; dear sister of Diane (Mordechai) Yerushalmi and Richard (Janet) Shagam; treasured aunt, cousin, and friend to many. Born in Chicago in 1940, Janet was a senior editor, photographer, arts enthusiast, and avid traveler. She was an educational textbook editor for 27 years. Her second career as a talented nature and industrial landscape photographer took her to many interesting places including Antarctica and Egypt. She also volunteered at the Shedd Aquarium.
