Obituary
James (“Jim”) Ruttenberg, a longtime resident of Scarsdale, New York died on August 19, 2024 at the age of 82, after a short illness. At the time of his death, he was being cared for by his wife Phyllis, with whom he had just celebrated his 56th wedding anniversary.
Jim was born on November 13, 1941 and raised in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. He was a graduate of Allderdice High School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T). In 1965, he received his masters from Stanford University in statistics.
Jim and his wife Phyllis moved to the NY area when he began his career at IBM in Armonk but later started a number of his own telecommunication companies which specialized in programming and producing telephone billing systems. Jim was a family-focused man, he could never do enough for his wife, 2 children and 2 grandchildren. Spending time with family, which included several beloved dachshunds over the years, was what made him happiest. He also had a passion for baseball and football and was a devoted fan of his hometown teams, the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers.
Mr. Ruttenberg was a loving husband to his wife Phyllis, loving father to his two adult daughters, Sherrie Goldstein and Julie Mandell, and a loving grandfather to Alexis and Michael Goldstein.
A private graveside funeral will be held on August 21, 2024 at Sharon Gardens at 11 am.
