Obituary

James R. Foster, 91
Loving husband for 69 years of Lynn nee Block, whom he married in 1953 when he was 23 and Lynn was 17. Dear father of Kim (Tony Petracca) Foster, Craig (Terri) Foster and Kyle (Leo) Weinstein. Proud grandfather of Alex, Jack, Asher, Aaron, and Astrid. Fond brother of Gail (Roy) Gordon. The family wishes to thank Edgar for his many years of devoted care. Mr. Foster received his BA from Trinity College in Hartford, CT in 1952 and received his JD from Yale Law School in 1955. He was a trial Attorney at the US Court of Military Appeals, US Department of Justice, from 1955 to1958. He served as an officer and director of L.B. Foster Company, a Fortune 500 family steel business, from 1958 until it was sold in 1974. He continued to serve on the Board of Directors of Foster Investment Company and Foster Holdings Inc. Jim was also the founder and CEO of Travel Professionals Inc., He served as President of Temple Jeremiah for three consecutive terms. Jim was a lifelong member of Northmoor County Club. He served on the Board of Directors and was a Life Trustee at Highland Park Hospital, A Life Trustee at Evanston Northwestern Hospital, Vice President of the American Jewish Committee, Midwest Chairman of American Associates of Ben Gurion University. He loved to travel, collect art, photography and most of all, he was passionate about his family and friends. He loved long lunches and even longer dinners. He will be greatly missed. Graveside service Sunday 11AM at Zion Gardens Cemetery, 3600 North Narragansett Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60634.
