Obituary
James G. Belmonti, known affectionately as Jimmy, age 81, passed peacefully surrounded by family on November 11th, 2024 in Lake Forest, Illinois. Jimmy was known for his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family. A beloved father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend, he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his cherished wife of 57 years, Peggy, and his children Jeffrey (Gretchen), Gary (Olivia), and Juliette (Kenny). He was the proudest and most adoring Papa of his magnificent 7: Hannah, Elli, Harry, Tess, Fiona, Luca and Celeste. A loving brother to Mary Eileen Belmonti, Joan and Richard Schnadig, and darling uncle to any child he ever met, he leaves behind many who will forever hold him in their hearts. Special thanks are due to his caregivers: Maria, Lina, Prince, Ian, and Klint for all of their TLC to both Jimmy and his entire family.
Born on November 16th, 1942 in Highland Park, Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents Dora & Frank S. Belmonti, and Fern & Milt Millman, along with brothers, Samuel & Frank Jr., and cousin Alex Scornavaccco, who was a lifelong brother to Jimmy.
Jimmy personified the American Dream. He believed that hard work and honesty were the keys to success and always led by example, showing his family the value of perseverance and responsibility. His passion for craftsmanship and problem-solving led him to a career that spanned more than five decades at Precision Plating Company (PPC). Jimmy mastered new equipment, pioneering innovative methods, and guided the business to new heights. The management team he built continues to carry forward his legacy, a testament to his vision and leadership. He leaves behind a distinct footprint of excellence and a lasting impact on the plating industry.
Jimmy touched the lives of many with his generosity and wicked sense of humor. His one-liners could lighten the mood in any room, and no one was ever left wondering where he stood on something—he always had the perfect response. He was a man of integrity, humility, and possessed a quiet strength and moral compass that inspired everyone around him. His memory will live on through the countless stories and memories shared by those who loved him.
Funeral services to be held at 1pm on Thursday, November 14, at Am Shalom, 840 Vernon Avenue in Glencoe. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed on Jimmy’s page at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com.
