Obituary
Jacob Kaminsky, 87, of Columbia, MD passed away on Wednesday, June 9th, 2021. Jacob lived every day with gusto. Married 64 years to his best friend Lili. The pair were inseparable until her passing in February of 2020. They met on a kibbutz in Israel and immigrated to the United States in 1959. He attended the University of California, Berkeley earning a Bachelor's degree in landscape architecture and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign earning a Master's degree in city planning. They settled in Columbia, MD in the early 1970s and he worked in energy conservation for the US Department of Energy.
Jacob was passionate about art, nature and building. A prolific painter he created over 100 paintings of the Eastern Shore's Blackwater Refuge and Hooper's Island. He was looking forward to the Brooklyn Nets winning the championship this year. But most of all he adored his eight grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Kedem Kaminsky (Debbie Macklin), Tamar (Kevin) Burns, and Dahlia (Scott) Fisher; and grandchildren, Joshua (Katherine) Kaminsky, Sofia Kaminsky, Sariel Lehyani, Nick Burns, Alec Burns, Magnolia Fisher, Charlie Fisher, and Teddy Fisher. He was predeceased by his wife, Lili Lea Kaminsky (nee Moldavon); and parents, Bazalel and Leah Kaminsky.
Services at Columbia Memorial Park, 12005 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029, on Monday, June 14th, 2021 at 10:00 am. Please omit flowers. Contributions in his memory may be sent to American Red Cross (www.redcross.org) in support of Blood Services, PO Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839. The family will be in mourning at 11108 Swansfield Road, Columbia, MD 21044 following the funeral until 1 pm.
