Irving Melcer

Beloved husband of Arlene Lee, nee Glassman. Loving father of David (Carol) Melcer, Sylvia (Bob) Reinke, Allen (Barbara) Melcer, Marshall (Felicia) Melcer and Rachel (Patrick) Thimangu. Proud grandfather of Adriane (Jason) Anthony, Dan Maciejewski, Aaron and Noah Melcer, Edward and Steven (Gina) Melcer, Benjamin and Eva Thimangu. Dear brother of Faye (Hyman) Rubin. Will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. Irving was an accomplished scientist and pharmacist with a doctoral degree from Yale University. There were also several patents in his name. Irving was a leading member of Ames Jewish Congregation and loved attending sporting events, theater and listening to classical music. Memorials may be made in his memory to Ames Jewish Congregation, 3721 Calhoun Ave., Ames, IA 50010, 515.233.1347, www.ajciowa.org. Funeral services will be held in Chicago on Thursday.
