Irving Isaac “Irv” Garber

Obituary

Irving Isaac “Irv” Garber, age 95. Loving husband of Phyllis Eisman Garber of blessed memory and Muriel Stark Eisman Garber who was by his side for the past 29 years. Irv was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Ida and Sam Garber of blessed memory. He was predeceased by brothers Victor and Oscar and sister Yetta. He was a loving father to his Garber Girls, Ellen Bronfeld (Asher), Carol Shachtman (Mark), Sherri Mendelson (Tom) and Sandie Rubin (Joel) and his two stepchildren Lee Eisman (Jay Tennenbaum) and Alan Eisman. He is survived by 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. He was proud to have served in the army 3rd infantry division at the end of WWII. He was forever positive and loved to dance, listen to music, play golf, and volunteer for hospice patients and Meals on Wheels.
Burial will be a gravesite service led by his grandson-in-law Rabbi Shmuel Ertel, on Thursday, June 9, 2022, 12PM at Memorial Park Cemetery, 9900 Gross Point Road, Skokie, IL. A private family shiva will be held.
