Obituary
Irma Doris (Dank) Bochner, aged 96, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025, in Delray Beach, FL. Born on November 10, 1928, in the Bronx, NY, Irma dedicated her life to education and community service, touching the lives of many as a public school teacher.
Irma was a lifelong learner and educator, having studied at PS 80, Walton High School, and Hunter College. Her commitment to education was evident in her long and rewarding career as an elementary school teacher, where she inspired countless students with her dedication and passion for teaching.
A devout member of the Northeast Jewish Center, Irma's faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing strength and guidance throughout her years.
Irma was also musically inclined, enjoying playing both the piano and keyboard. Her musical talents brought joy not only to her but also to those who had the pleasure of listening.
Irma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Bochner, who passed away in 2004. She is survived by her loving children, Robert (Laura) Bochner and Karen (Richard) Cohn; grandchildren, Laura (Maurice) Gordon, Rachel (Matthew) Della, Melissa Cohn, and Rochelle Cohn; and five great-grandchildren. Irma was also dedicated to her three step- grandchildren and 6 step-great grandchildren. Irma's legacy of kindness, generosity, and dedication to others will live on through her family and all who knew her.
A service to honor Irma's life will be held at Sharon Gardens in Valhalla, NY, on February 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM. The address is 273 Lakeview Drive, Valhalla, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hadassah and/or Northeast Jewish Center in Yonkers, NY, two charities close to Irma's heart, reflecting her lifelong commitment to philanthropy and community service. Irma's memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
