Obituary

Ira "Butch" Jacobson, 78, passed away on March 3, 2024; beloved husband and best friend of the late Jane for 40 wonderful years; loving father of Jamie (Patrick) Cornet, Kristie (Jack) Rininger, Kimberly (Jay) Loomis and Robert (Mikka); cherished "Papa" of Katie and Alex Cornet, Ryan and Alexis Rininger, Finnegan and Sawyer Loomis and Bodie Jacobson; much loved brother of the late Jerry; adored uncle and friend of many. Butch loved coaching, especially football and baseball, and created lasting relationships with many of his players over the years. One of his greatest accomplishments was winning the city football championship. After retiring his most cherished pastime was watching his son and grandkid's sporting events from the sidelines. He loved dining out with friends and adored his time with his family. He was a physical education and driver's ed teacher for 34 years with Chicago Public Schools at Sullivan High School. Butch left a lasting impression on all the lives he touched and will be dearly missed. Memorial donations in his honor may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org. Interment Randhill Park Cemetery. Visitation Sunday, March 10, 2024 10 AM until the 12:15 PM chapel service at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights.
