Howard S. Shapiro, 85, beloved husband of Sandra nee Dunn for 63 years; loving father of Harlan (Robin) Shapiro and Wendy (Danny) Schuman; cherished Papa Howie of Aaron, Bennett, Maddie, Sarah and Joey; dear brother of the late Susan (Howard) Feingold; fond brother-in-law of Janis (Irving) Levinson; many loving nieces and nephews. Howard was a multiple Emmy award winning director of news and sports events. His career spanned 50 years with ABC/WLS TV, including four Olympics. While he was an accomplished director, Howard's greatest pride was his family. To say Howie was a proud father and grandfather is an all-time understatement. He lived life to the fullest and treasured every minute with his kids and grandkids. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Chapel service, Sunday 12:15 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park.
