Obituary

Hortense “Horty” Levkovitz, nee Adler, age 94, long-time resident of Wilmette, originally from Chicago’s South Shore, beloved wife for 63 years of the late Joseph Levkovitz; loving mother of Susan Reynolds, Mindy (Jerry) Tiberi, and the late Phillip Levkovitz; adored grandmother of Nina (Ken) Tiberi Sawica, Taylor (Matt Sloan) Reynolds, and Lucy Reynolds; devoted daughter of the late Herb and the late Dorothy Adler; cherished sister of the late Gene (Merle) Adler; treasured aunt and friend of many. Horty spent a lifetime nurturing others, spreading love and kindness to all she encountered. She dedicated her life to caregiving through her career as a registered nurse, devotion to her family, and as a founding member and former board president of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), where she was a trailblazer in raising awareness to remove the stigma of mental illness. Graveside service Friday, 1:30 p.m. CT at Westlawn Cemetery, Section Rose, 7801 W. Montrose Ave., Norridge. Horty’s service will be livestreamed on her webpage at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com.
