Obituary

Harvey Babetch, age 91, beloved husband and love of his life for 65 years of Lynn Babetch, nee Lakin; loving father of Sheri (Michael) O’Hair, Lauri (Neal) Shamis, and Leslie Babetch; adored Pops of Matt (Alyssa) Shamis, Jordan (Hanna) Shamis, Abby (Eli) Cooper, Kevin (Brittany) O’Hair, and Steven (Jessica) O’Hair; proud great-grandfather of Olivia, Riley, Jake, Leo, Beau, Kara, and Bryson; devoted son of the late Albert and the late Jean Babetch; cherished brother of Sandi (late Ben) Braver and the late Irwin (Bobbi) Babetch; dear brother-in-law of Ron (Helene) Lakin; Harvey lived an incredible life. He played basketball for Von Steuben High School and held the Chicago city scoring record of 87 points for more than 40 years. Harvey went on to play for Bradley University in the NCAA National Championship game in 1954 and then played professionally for the St. Louis Hawks. He then travelled the world playing for the All-Star Team against the Harlem Globetrotters for several years. Graveside service Sunday, 9:00 a.m. CT at Westlawn Cemetery, Westlake section, 7801 W Montrose Ave, Norridge, IL 60706.
