In Loving Memory of

Gloria Shapiro

April 3rd, 2026

Obituary

Gloria Shapiro’s life was shaped by two loving marriages. She first married Norman Mizel, with whom she welcomed a daughter, Ariella. Gloria cherished her close and loving bond with Ariella and warmly embraced her husband, Daniel, and their son, Duncan, who brought endless happiness into her life. She carried her family in her heart with a tenderness that touched everyone around her. Upon Norman’s passing, Gloria in-time found love again with her second husband, Alvin Shapiro, who lovingly expanded her world with his son, Jim (Pam), and his daughter, Lisa (Chad). She especially delighted in the joy brought by Lisa and Chad’s two children, Lane and Parker. Together they created a blended family that she embraced wholeheartedly. Gloria cherished her role as both mother and grandmother, finding deep happiness in watching her family grow and in the warmth they brought to her life. She is survived by her four loving sisters-Lois (Don), Marlene (Jon), Janice, and Eileen-as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org, would be appreciated. Chapel service Tuesday, April 7, 2026, 12:15 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment following at Shalom Memorial Park. For information about shiva and to leave condolences, www.shalommemorial.org or (847) 255-3520.
