Obituary

Glenn L. Felner, 97, beloved husband of Bonnie Felner, nee Jacobs and the late Ayleene Felner;  loving father of the late Thomas Felner and the late Nancy Crawford; proud stepfather of Bonnie’s children Ann-Marie (Todd) Prince and Laura (Skip) Martin; adored grandfather of Dylan (Elly) Britt, Tyler (Brittney) Britt, Kyle Britt, Sara (Anthony) Crocenzi, Melissa (Daniel) Christiano, Monica Felner, Brad Gunther, Joseph (Lauren) Carani, Courtney (David) Heck, Siobhan Prince, Jessica Martin and the late Alex Britt; special great grandfather of Max, Madelynn, Maverick, and Mason Gunther, Lily, Stella and Margo Britt, Aubry and Ashley Britt, Mia and Ava Christiano, Everett, Leander, and Cordelia Carani, Kayleigh and Brayden Heck; dear great great grandfather of Alex Britt; devoted son of the late Edna and the late Morris Felner; fond brother of the late Shirley Silver; treasured uncle, great uncle and friend to many; cherished “Dog Dad” of Patch and Alfie. Glenn was a decorated World War II Veteran who fought in the Battle of the Bulge and received many military accolades for his heroic activity including the Combat Infantry Badge, the US Bronze Star, and the French Legion of Honor decoration. Leaving his military career behind, Glenn came home to a job in journalism for the Chicago Sun-Times, but eventually spent decades in the insurance industry. He was an avid reader and a world traveler. He enjoyed riding his Vespa, driving his Jaguar, and piloting his own plane. Glenn established the PAWS Adoption Center in Highland Park, Illinois. He was an honorary counsel general in Rwanda through the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday, October 20th at 1:00 p.m. CT at Memorial Park Cemetery, Anshe Emet Section, 9900 Gross Point Road., Skokie. The service will be livestreamed on Glenn’s webpage at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to PAWS, www.pawschicago.org/glennfelner.
