Obituary

Fred Allen, age 94, a long-time Highland Park resident and formerly of Evanston, beloved husband and best friend for 70 years of the late Carole Allen; loving father of Stuart (Christine) Allen and David Allen; adored grandfather of Sarah (Trevor) Chapin, Sam (Laken) Allen, and Max (fiancée Laura McTaggart) Allen; proud great grandfather of Grayson, Evelyn, Auggie, and Tatum; devoted son of the late Howard and the late Sophie Allen; cherished brother of the late Marjorie (late Dr. Michael) Frank; dear brother-in-law of the late Maxine “Mitzi” (late Irving) Cobert; treasured uncle of Paula (Uri) David, Judith (Liz Garland) Frank, Tony (Rachel) Frank, Barbara Cobert (Larry) Joseph and Jody Cobert (Randy) Berns; special great uncle, cousin, and friend to many.

Fred owned the Highland Park Theatre for nearly four decades, and before that the Highwood Theatre and other movie establishments. His love for bicycling lasted through his entire adult life, well into his 90’s. Fred was a true inspiration for family and friends, and his generous spirit touched many lives and will forever be remembered.

Graveside Service Thursday, 1:30 p.m. CT at Westlawn Cemetery, 7801 W. Montrose Ave., Norridge. Fred’s service will be livestreamed on his webpage at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com. Info: The Goldman Funeral Group (847) 478-1600.
