Obituary

With profound sadness our family mourns the loss of our beautiful mother, Evelyn Fisher. Evie passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday morning, August 2, 2025. She was born in 1932, and grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with her twin sister Marion and their parents, David and Lenke Wald, who emigrated from Hungary in 1923.

Evelyn graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison. Shortly thereafter, she met and married the love of her life, David L. Fisher in Chicago, Illinois, and eventually settled in Glencoe in 1966, where they raised their three sons, Steven, Gregg and Douglas. Evelyn was a committed member of North Shore Congregation Israel and a long-time member of Birchwood Tennis Club, a frequent gathering place for her family and friends and where her husband David L. Fisher was once club president.

Evelyn, always fashionable and elegant, had an infectious laugh, loved to entertain, travel and especially enjoyed a traditional English high tea. Above all else, Evie was a wonderful mother, wife, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin and friend. She loved and treasured these relationships.

Evelyn is survived by her sons Steven Fisher, Gregg Fisher, Douglas Fisher and her grandchildren Dylan, Jessica, Sofia, Henry, Ziva, her daughters-in-law Sarah, Lisa and Lauri, as well as the Tashman/Mason families and English cousins of the Wald/Gancz family. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

A private service for the family will be held Tuesday, August 5th. The service will be followed by Shiva for friends and family at the residence of Doug and Lauri Fisher, 1639 Highland Avenue, Wilmette, Illinois, 60091.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Evelyn's name to the Prostate Cancer Foundation (www.pcf.org/donate)
