Obituary

Eileen Barnes Schechter, nee Orenstein, passed away on Friday, April 19th. Beloved wife and best friend of her loving husband of 36 years, the late Ned Schechter. She is survived by her children, Ronni (Christopher) Frey, Andrew Barnes and the late Mindy (the late Michael Herman) and stepchildren Brian, Robert and Amy Schechter. She was the beloved Gramma to her grandchildren: Olivia (Keaton), Seth, Molly, Harrison, Kaylie, Graham and Erin, as well as her new great-granddaughter, Eileena "Leena". Eileen was preceded in death by her parents Abraham "Orrie" and Gladyce Orenstein. She is also survived by her brother, whom she adored, Stuart (Rachel) Orenstein and her loving nieces, Lisa (Mitchell) Whitefield, Abbie (Stephen) Libman, the late Bonnie Orenstein and Karen (Debra Schoenberg) Fierer. She maintained a loving relationship with her daughter-in-law Susan Oliver. Eileen was a great friend to many and had many, many good friends throughout her life, among them her special colleagues at Vector Securities, Ovation Pharmaceuticals and Lundbeck, Inc. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org. Chapel service will be at 10 AM on Tuesday, April 30th, at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment following at Shalom Memorial Park.
