Obituary

Doris N. Rosenbaum, nee Nussbaum, age 108, passed away peacefully April 7, 2024.  Dotsy was the beloved wife of the late Lloyd E. Rosenbaum and is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Marjorie Rosenbaum, her grandchildren, Michael Rosenbaum, Sara (Alexander) Berg, Benjamin Rosenbaum, and her adored great grandchildren Owen, Adam, and Abigail Berg; nieces Carol (Arnold) Kanter and Julie Heifetz.

Dotsy grew up in St. Louis with her parents, the late Samuel and the late Frances Nussbaum and her brother, the late Robert (late Rae) Nussbaum, among throngs of loving aunts and uncles and hordes of adventurous cousins.  She attended the University of Missouri and worked as a secretary at the Brown Shoe Company before marrying Lloyd, her brother’s medical school companion and Nussbaum Family home boarder, in 1940.  Together, they moved to Anderson, Indiana where Lloyd practiced medicine for 50 years.  Doris became a prolific artist, an avocation she continued for the next 70 years.   In Anderson they raised their son, Bob, who later moved to Chicago.  Because of her gentle, loving ways and fabulous banana cake, her family was always excited to visit “Grandma Dotsy” and “ Grandaddy Lloyd” in Anderson.  After Lloyd died in 1990, she returned to St. Louis, once again, before relocating to Chicago in 2006 where she celebrated her 90th through 108th birthdays and was adored by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and grand dogs.

Service Thursday, 12 Noon CT at The Skokie Chapel, 8851 Skokie Blvd, Skokie (at Niles Center Rd.). The service will be livestreamed on Dotsy’s webpage at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com. Interment Zion Gardens Cemetery, Chicago.
