Obituary
Donna Elizabeth Fletcher Schur was born in Cornwall, New York on December 3, 1954. She lived with her parents, Robert and Dorothy Fletcher, in nearby Central Valley, New York, where she attended public schools, graduating from Monroe-Woodbury High School in 1973.
She attended Dartmouth College, majoring in Art History, and received an A.B. degree in 1977. Upon graduation she began a lifelong career in advertising and marketing, working at Leo Burnett USA as a media buyer and account executive until 1990. She then opened her own marketing consulting business. Her clients ranged from Fortune 500 companies to public libraries. She served on the Highland Park Library Board for many years, including a term as its President.
In 1980 she married another Dartmouth alumnus, attorney William G. Schur, also known as "Bill." The couple lived in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago for six years before moving to Highland Park in 1986. There, she and her husband raised two sons, Robert (Rebecca) and Daniel, both of whom survive her, along with her husband Bill. She is also survived by her grandson, Eli Benjamin Schur, son of Robert and Rebecca.
Donna was active in the Illinois Library Association, and was a frequent speaker at its conferences and contributor to its journal. She also was a member of Rotary International and Sisterhood at North Shore Congregation Israel, and a past President of the Dartmouth Club of Chicago.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Friends of the Highland Park Library, hplibrary.org/friends-5330 or the Illinois Alzheimer's Association, alz.org/illinois.
