Obituary

Dee Kahnweiler Levenson, nee Rubin, 95. Beloved wife of the late Albert Joseph Kahnweiler and the late Samuel Levenson; dear companion of Bernie Cherny; devoted mother of Janna Kahnweiler (Ray Gillespie) and David (Gerri) Kahnweiler; cherished Grandma Dee of Mckensie Kahnweiler (Derrick Levy), Alexander (Rebecca) Kahnweiler, Kyle (Caitie) Kahnweiler, and Kimberly Kahnweiler; proud great-grandmother of Frank and Stella; caring sister of the late Paula (the late Erwin) Kohn; fond aunt of Susan (Jeffrey) Brown and Robert (Alice) Kohn; will be missed by many cousins and friends. Dee was a patron and supporter of the arts, enjoying theater, music, and dance. For the last 40 years of her life, she lived adjacent to the gates of Ravinia Festival, where she got to enjoy hundreds of concerts. She was a proud graduate of Northwestern University and cast member of WaMu. Dee sat on the Board of Apple Tree Theater in Highland Park and was an active member of ORT, for whom she narrated numerous fashion shows. She was a successful real estate agent on the North Shore for many years. Dee took great pride in the individual relationships she established with each grandchild. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Ravinia Festival, www.ravinia.org. Chapel service Weds, April 23, 2:30 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Rd, Arlington Heights. Interment to follow at Shalom Memorial Park.
