Obituary

Deborah I. Block, nee Columbus, age 63, of Spring, TX, raised in Skokie, IL, beloved wife of David Block; loving mother of Rebecca (Richard Von Ravensberg) Block; devoted daughter of the late Aaron and the late Carol (nee Fleischman) Columbus; dear sister of Steven Columbus. Graveside service Monday, January 8th, 1:00 p.m. Ct at Shalom Memorial Park, Rand & Wilke Rds., Arlington Heights. The service will be livestreamed on Deborah’s webpage at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com.

Deborah was a true friend to all who knew her. She was a kind soul who touched the hearts of many. She had a huge heart and an even bigger smile. Often times, before she would engage in any type of conversation with someone she did not know, she would always ask their name and made them give her a big smile before she would continue to speak with them. She once said she learned that from her father and wanted to carry on the tradition of “always making a stranger feel welcome”.

She loved to travel in her little teardrop camper whenever she could, she loved her music family and both her music and non-music friends. She was also a tie dye enthusiast and was working on developing her own technique right before she became ill. Deb will always be remembered as “Mom” to all the neighborhood children and all of Rebecca’s friends. Even as the friends got older, and many still to this day, refer to her as “Mom” as a sign of love and respect towards her. But most importantly, Deborah will always be remembered as a true, diehard, Chicago Cubs baseball fan. One of her fondest memories, and self-proclaimed greatest trip ever, was traveling from Atlanta to Chicago by herself, to participate in the 2016 Chicago Cubs World Series celebrations.

Rest in peace dear wife, mother, sister, and friend to all! Be comforted to know that your gentile approach, open heart, and friendly smile will never be forgotten by those who love you! Please know that your memory will continue to live on among all who had the privilege to know and love you!
