Obituary

David L. Weiner, age 91, of Chicago, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on August 1, 2024; Founder and CEO of marketing communication agency Marketing Support, Inc (MSI), founded in 1961 and sold in 2018 upon his retirement; loving father of Barry (Robin) and Andy (JoAnne) Weiner; adored grandfather of Myranda (Sam) Sorock, Kyle, Zachary (Brooke), and Joshua Weiner; devoted son of the late Harry and the late Bessie Weiner; cherished brother of the late Muriel (late Harold) Levie; former spouse of the late Phyllis Weiner; treasured uncle, cousin, and friend to many. David’s family would like to acknowledge his personal assistant Donna for her dedication and many years of service to Dad, along with caregivers Jeannie, Yuna, and Grace for the outstanding care they provided.

David graduated from Hyde Park High School in 1950 and graduated from the University of Madison in 1954. During this time, he was a counselor and a former camper for 10 summers at Camp Waupaca and along with being a member of the ZBT fraternity he developed his passion for the stage. While at UW Madison, David was extremely involved in the Harefoot Club performances, and he always claimed that his piano playing and gift for performing helped him pass his Spanish class. David also served honorably stateside in the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant during the Korean Conflict Era.

David was considered an expert on the biology of human irrationality. He authored four popular psychology books: Brain Tricks, Battling the Inner Dummy, Power Freaks, and Reality Check. During his research he developed a relationship with the psychology department at UW Madison and was asked to serve on the board of directors. David was also a lifelong avid tennis player and piano player, playing the piano at The Zebra Lounge and JoAnne’s for many years. Still, there was nothing David enjoyed more than spending time traveling with his family on great vacations. David was loved by all who knew him, and he will live on in our hearts forever.

Graveside service Friday, 11:00 a.m. CT at Waldheim Cemetery, Gate 300, 1700 S. Harlem Ave., North Riverside, IL. His service will be livestreamed on David’s webpage at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com.
