Obituary

Our dear friend and loved one, Charlene G. Marrano (nee Swerdlow) 81, passed away peacefully on February 24th , 2023 in Long Grove. Beloved Daughter of her cherished parents the late Henry and Ann Swerdlow and special Stepmother the late Faye Swerdlow. She is survived by her Brother Sherwin Swerdlow, Stepbrother Larry, (the late Sandy) Mayer. Char was the adored Aunt of many loved Nieces and Nephews, the "Light of her Life" Andrea (Danny) Shiflett, Bryan Swerdlow, Mark Swerdlow, Allan and Mindy. Char will be greatly missed by her early school friends and BFF's of more than 70 years - Ann, Barbara, Patti and Marilyn. Not to mention her special long-time cherished friends Barb and Mir. Life's journey took her to LA, Buffalo, Skokie again, back to LA and then Chicago once more. Before moving to California in 1969, Char worked at Skokie Federal Savings and shared her hobbies of golf and bowling with her fellow co-workers. In California she made many friends, was friendly and fun-loving. Her love of golf and bowling continued there. She worked in Beverly Hills for a while and then went to work for the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA!) After returning to the Chicago area in 2001 she settled in Barrington, went to work for and retired from Kennedy Homes. She enjoyed her friendships and co-workers there too. Having lived in Barrington for 22 years Char met many new friends that she equally loved. (Pam, Bernice, Rozanne, Glenn and Anne - to name only a few) If you were Char's friend, you were Family!
